350,000 estimated numbers of new cases of Lyme Disease are diagnosed each year. Some experts believe the actual number is closer to 1-2 million new cases per year in the US alone! Furthermore, ticks harbor many other diseases that can be transmitted to humans aside from Lyme Disease, including other bacterial infections, viruses or parasites. If Lyme disease is not diagnosed and treated early which is often the case with many, it may become late-stage or chronic. This may also occur when early treatment is inadequate. While some symptoms of chronic or late-stage Lyme disease are similar to those of early Lyme, many patients go on to develop severe symptoms such as fatigue, cognitive impairment, joint pain, poor sleep, mood problems, muscle pain, and other neurological presentations. Hence, the symptoms of Lyme disease significantly overlap those of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, depression, auto-immune diseases and even Alzheimer’s.
Many Lyme patients report being misdiagnosed with a different condition before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme Disease is very difficult to detect in its late stages and because there are no real tests that are entirely accurate at diagnosing it other than those tests provided by specialized Labs who specialize in tick-born illnesses, patients are often left with no answers, on their own to deal with their own symptoms, put on medications for misdiagnosed illnesses, made out to feel mentally inadequate and some have even gone as far as to say that the illness is entirely made up by those who claim to be suffering with it, hence the “Chronic Lyme Is Real!” motto.

This design was created by Jessica from The Healing Hands Duo to help spread awareness about this horrible illness and to raise funds for better diagnostics and treatment. A portion of the funds made from the purchase of this design will be put aside and donated back every year toward one of the members in our community in order to help pay for products and services offered through The Energy Balancing Light Studio. Even if you can not purchase any of our designs, then every little bit helps towards trying to help change someone’s life. Therefore, all donations both big and small would be highly appreciated.
