What Is the Difference Between CBD Oil, Rick Simpson Oil and Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil?

If you are just diving into the wonderful world of Cannabis products than you are probably where I was when I first started researching this topic, very confused with all the different information that is out there. However, you were probably led to this page because you are interested in learning a little bit more and you have heard about all the great health benefits that these oils have to offer.

So where did you hear about it? Did you watch the successful documentary, “Run From The Cure” where some are claiming that the Simpson oil has helped them cure Cancer? Was it from a friend or celebrity that's dealing with Lyme Disease because this oil is often praised among that community for being a so called, "Lyme Cure"? Maybe you just saw the Sanjay Gupta’s CNN documentary, “Weed” where a little girl named Charlotte was cured of her debilitating epileptic seizures using CBD Oil? Whatever the case may be, there is no denying that these oils have some definite healing properties and that they have gained popularity among those of us looking for a solution to our suffering when everything else being offered to control our condition(s) have failed us.

Due to geographical factors and through breeding, this plant has been developed into different species and strains, which than produces a plant with different chemical properties. Industrial or food grade Hemp plants for instance usually produce low amounts of the cannabinoid THC which is often associated with the psychoactive effect of medicinal marijuana. However, hemp plants can still produce varying amounts of other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, CBN and some THC. THC & CBD are just two cannabinoids found in the plant but the two most people tend to be familiar with. Hemp is often used legally for many industrial applications and has been classified as a superfood; Whereas Cannabis usually refers to the recreational and medical plant.

So, to take this even one step further there are also two strains, Indica and Sativa and all the hybrids in between.

Effects of Sativa

Sativa strains usually provide the user with an energetic feeling. Hence, it is recommended that Sativa is taken during the day when a quick burst of energy is required, as it helps to maintain focus and concentration. Also, this strain is good for athletes as it provides them with a boost of inspiration.

Medical benefits of Sativa

Sativa has many medical benefits such as appetite stimulation, anxiety relief, anti depression etc. In some cases it has also shown significant mental benefits with those who are dealing with social anxiety, ADD, ADHD and chronic depression. When it comes to marijuana each strain will affect its user in a different manner.

Popular strains of Sativa

Some classic Sativa strains include Sour diesel, Maui wowie, Jack herer and the Haze varieties (which include Super Silver Haze and Lemon Haze). Some of the popular strains in Canada are Green Crack, Strawberry Cough, Charlotte's web, Alaskan thunder ****, Durban poison and Moby dick.

Hybrid

Hybrid cannabis strains are a blend of Indica and Sativa that is bred in order to provide weed users with the attractive traits of each of the above subspecies.

Effects of Hybrids

Hybrid strains are specifically grown to blend the desirable effects from several genetic strains of weed, and to develop a feeling that usually one could only get from smoking multiple varieties.

Cross-breeding allows breeders to decrease the undesirable effects in a particular strain, thus the new hybrid strain can offer a range of various highs. At times, the best strains are the result of some breeding "accidents." Other forms, though, such as Charlotte’s Web (a high CBD strain that is used to treat children with epilepsy) is the result of careful breeding.

Medical benefits of Hybrids

Hybrid strains of marijuana are specifically bred to produce certain effects for medicinal purposes. An example of medical benefits of hybrids includes Blue Dream, which is beneficial for treating anxiety so that the individual can feel comfortable in social situations.

Popular Hybrid strains of cannabis

Some of the most popular ones include Cinderella 99, OG Kush, Blue Dream, Gorilla Glue 4, Dutch treat, Banana kush, ACDC, Juicy Fruit and Girl scout cookies.

Indica

It is basically a cannabis subspecies and originates from South Asia and East India. The plant of Indica marijuana is short and has broad leaves that grow in dark hues of green, with shades of pink and purple. It is known for its calming effects and pungent smell.

Effects of Indica

Indica strains have a strong sedative effect on the body, thus making the user feel lazy or sluggish. It is extremely relaxing and hence it is often recommended to use at night. It is also known to increase an individual’s appetite.

Medical benefits of Indica

Indica strains of weed have tons of medical benefits, especially for individuals dealing with physical sickness such as inflammation, chronic pain, various forms of cancer, multiple sclerosis, nausea, gastrointestinal issues etc. Some of its benefits include appetite stimulation, spasm reduction, and sleep aid.

Additionally, Indica strains of weed are used to treat mental issues such as anxiety, stress, ADHD, seizures, and depression, which at times can be aggravated by Sativa strains.

Popular strains of Indica

Some of the most common Indica strains of cannabis include the Kush varieties such as Bubba kush, Purple kush and Hindu kush (as well as White Rhino, Hash plant, Northern Lights etc.)

While CBD Oil, Rick Simpson Oil and Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil have some similarities they are still very different; as CBD Oil (often extracted from hemp or a low THC Cannabis plant) and Rick Simpson Oil (often extracted from Indica or a hybrid of Indica/Sativa marijuana and is high in THC) are both extracted from the physical plant. Whereas, Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil is a proprietary blend extracted from the seeds of a Cannabis plant specifically bred for medicinal purposes. Our oil yields an end product low in THC and other potential cannabinoids but is none the less an extremely healthy oil which may improve all aspects of health with continued use and is COMPLETELY LEGAL.

Some may still require a CBD or a combination CBD/THC oil to manage some more serious conditions but our Hemp Seed Oil would make for a fantastic addition for anyone wanting to improve or maintain a healthy lifestyle and can be used in conjunction with other CBD oils for added assimilation.

When thinking about nature, nature often works best by consuming a whole food source and by consuming products form both the seeds along with a full plant based extracted CBD oil, you are able to get the best of both worlds! Also, due to the cost of the plant extractions and potency, some may find that our proprietary blend of Hemp Seed Oil is all they need without the added expense.

Why You Should Consider Consuming Our Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil Over Others On The Market?

Well, first and foremost our Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil has many potential health benefits such as; Containing some of the constituents found in the Cannabis plant, it also contains essential amino acids, a perfect balance of all three EFA’s which include Omega 3, 6 & 9, minerals, some vitamin B's, D, A, E, four times the GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acids) found in evening primrose oil and plant sterols. If taken regularly, hemp seed oil may lower your heart disease risks, it can support healthy brain and cognitive functions, it may reduce joint pain, may assist with fibromyalgia pain, may help stabilize sugars in diabetics and help eliminate insulin, lessen the risk of breast and prostate cancer, pharmaceutical needs may be reduced or eliminated all together, you may be able to take less of your expensive CBD oils, acts as a vasodilator opening veins to help prevent stroke and reduce blood pressure and many vegans may choose to use it as a healthy essential fatty acid because they are not consuming seafood. However, consuming seafood high in EPA/DHA is still crucial for maintaining proper DHA levels within the body.

Last but not least, unlike other over the counter Hemp Seed Oils that you can purchase at a health food store, our Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil is strictly bred for medicinal marijuana and not industrial hemp. Our source is also completely legal, carefully monitored to insure its safety & THC levels, GMO fee, pesticide free, 100% Canadian and has been approved by Health Canada.

So why is THC so carefully monitored?

Well THC is the cannabinoid that produces the psychoactive effect (the getting stoned feeling) and some studies have show that the prolonged use of THC during development or in adolescence can cause long-term or possibly permanent adverse changes in the brain or a loss in IQ points. However, the same was not found in adult brains that only began to consume THC products once the brain was fully developed. Some research also suggests that higher levels of THC like those that are found in Rick Simpson Oil, may help to treat some types of cancers or control some auto immune conditions. However, because Rick Simpson Oil is still illegal, patients seeking this oil have been forced to obtain it or produce it illegally. You can read more about Rick Simpson himself and his oil HERE. To put into perspective why Rick Simpson Oil is still illegal, here is some more information:

"The Rick Simpson oil is a full spectrum plant extract of potent cannabis. It therefore contains very high levels of THC and other cannabinoids; easily in the range of 50-60% THC and 10-15% CBD, depending on the strain that was used."

Again, in no way are we suggesting that our Cannabis Sativa Hemp Seed Oil is a replacement for Rick Simpson Oil or other high potency CBD products but if you would like to hear about all the wonderful health benefits people are having using the oil we carry, you can read some of those testimonials HERE or watch the video below.
